Oh the Joys of Being a Teenager
If you know about the LDS church, then you may know that there is three groups in the Young Womens. Beehives which are 12-14 year old girls, Mia Maids which are 14-16 year old girls and the Laurels which are 16-18 year old girls. I am in the latter of the three and I will remember the day that I became a Laurel because of this story. When I went in to visit my bishop for my yearly interview, he asked, "When did you turn 16?" I replied when my birthday was, and I must tell you that this interview was about a month after my birthday. What made my chuckle was the fact that he said, "Really, I didn't realize that you had turned 16 so quickly on me." He checked over his shoulder to the calendar and also said," Holy smokes, it has already been almost a month since you became a laurel!" I kept on thinking that he must be really busy so I told him that it was okay that he didn't remember my birthday on the very day. That would be too much to ask of my Bishop. The interview continued on and the usual questions of, "How are you?", and , "How is your relationship with your family?" commenced. At the end of the interview, he said, "Now you don't mind me signing the certificate of your advancement into laurels on the line dedicated to the Young Women's President because it looks like she is trying to become the bishop." This fact is true. The YW president did sign on the bishop's line and the bishop had no choice but to sign on the YW president line. Oh well. Later on that day in church, the Bishop called me up to finally, and officially become a laurel. Like I said in the title, Oh the joys of being a teenager. Tchao!
