A while back, our family took in a little baby pearl cockatiel. We got a phone call from a lady in our ward asking," Are you missing a bird?" I answered," Uh, no..." she answered, "Well we have one, can you come get it. We just don't know what to do with him.", so I hiked up my socks and retrieved the lost bird. After 3 weeks, we decided that this little bird was probably wild, because he had no experience with people, cages, and hands most of all, he was pecked on by another bird on the cheek. So after a while, he started to get used to people. In order to give him a bath I wanted to get him acquainted with water, and not be afraid of it. So I stuck him on the towel rack, and let him watch me in the water. When I bathed him, he did it without a fuss. I constantly bring him with me into my room, while I do my hair and make up so he can get used to me and hands. So there is where this particular story begins: my room.
It was about 11:00 A.M. and I was just getting done with my summer homework for AP US History when I remembered that I had an appointment at 1:00 later that same day. I decided to go get Little Bird (This is what we called the baby bird, because we already had a cockatiel, and his name was Big Bird, so we saw it fitting: Big Bird, and Little Bird) I set him on my dresser where I keep my makeup, and where he promptly started to play with my bobby pins and eyelash curler. The phone rang, so I went to answer it, and when I came back, wonders of wonders, the darn bird got in my eyeliner, and had given himself a black beak! I had to laugh as I gave him a bath and cleaned him up as best as I could.
So after all of this, I felt it prudent to write my adventures of this little baby bird, and as I do so Little Bird is, of course, playing with a yellow colored pencil and tearing it to pieces. Have a great July 6, 2011! Au Benito!
I neglected to tell you that in the picture in the top right corner, you will notice that Little Bird has a faintly black beak.
